What?

What is true? What is your truth? It seems as though life is currently putting that question to each of us ever more sharply. Between the high peaks and the deep valleys runs the path of balance, as we learn from the Greek myth of Icarus, who flew too close to the sun and plunged into the sea. 

 

Between the scorching sun of Utopia and the downfall of Dystopia, we all live our truth. How do we stay connected to our Self along the way? How can we perceive life more widely and more deeply? How can we allow ourselves to be touched by the magic that arises when outer and inner reality connect? Sometimes you have to travel a long way for that. To Portugal, for example, where Ton is putting down roots in Tomar, reaching toward ancient mysteries. 

 

Because if you feel drained, perhaps you need to draw from deeper wells. 

The concept

We will be using our unique approach to the Open Space method for our gathering in the beautiful center of Bois le Comte. That means: no fixed program, no underlying agenda. Just being together with men and allowing what wants to emerge to emerge. In addition, we can enjoy 4 days of live music by Vicky and Sven, delicious vegetarian food, and the vast forests of the Ardennes. Are you ready to take a new step? Are you willing to meet the king, lover, warrior, or wild man within yourself?

 

In ancient times, men gathered around the fire to explore what truly occupied them. With Heart of Men, we want to restore that tradition. A gathering and self-inquiry that leads to strength, joy, brotherhood, and meaning.We work from openness and respect for everyone's authority and uniqueness. Heart of Men is not a crash course for success or a manual for a new masculinity dogma. It is a search for what is essential and what touches us deeply. We are good at searching for all the answers to questions we encounter around work, relationships, family, and money on our own. But real strength only arises when we connect with other men. Asking questions together, and listening to the answers together.

The Gate

We begin on Wednesday evening at 6:00 p.m. with a shared dinner. On Sunday, we'll say goodbye to each other no later than 1:00 p.m. 

  1. All participants are present from beginning till end. You can only participate for the entire event.

  2. No drugs of any sort are permitted and we ask you to not consume alcohol for the duration of the retreat.

  3. The main intention of our work is personal healing and growth.So the fuller you personally engage in the process, the more it might bring to you. 

  4. This retreat will be in English if non-dutch speaking participants are present.Otherwise it will be held in Dutch.

I have done several men's retreats with Ton and Jan. And oftentimes I have thought: "I'm leaving right now!" Every time the retreat called upon me to stand for what is mine. Jaren geleden had ik behoefte aan ‘werken met mannen’. De Terugkeer van de Koning bracht me in een eerste persoonlijke confrontatie met mezelf, maar bracht me ook meer helderheid in wie ik ben en welk pad ik bewandel. Nadien heb ik een aantal keer aan heart of men” deelgenomen, gespreid over meerdere jaren. Telkens merk ik dat ik op persoonlijk vlak een diepere laag bij mezelf kan aanboren, wat resulteert in steeds meer evenwichtigheid en balans in wie ik ben en waarvoor ik sta. Het werken met andere mannen, de verhalen, de belevenissen en de openheid waarmee mannen kunnen en durven delen, maakt van dit werk een grote meerwaarde. Het is altijd een zoektocht naar jezelf, maar eens je ervoor openstaat, kom je als beter mens (man) uit het weekend.

Confronting, inspiring and enriching all at the same time. To be surrounded by masculine energy is so healing. To be seen and heard without judgement and to be allowed the space to be myself gave a the chance to grow as a person and as a man. Words are insufficient to describe this, you have to experience it.

Every time I am impressed by the amount of space that can be created in a men's group by slowing down and intention setting. Pain and confusion are shared there in openness and are allowed to be healed and receive insight. Pure alchemy!
